Founder and Executive Chairman

Michael is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Comvest Private Equity.

Michael served as the Founder and Executive Chairman of Comvest Partners (Comvest), a leading middle-market investment firm specializing in private equity and credit strategies, until November 2025. Over a span of 25 years, he led the firm’s growth from its inception in 2000 into a platform with nearly $17 billion of assets under management, providing financing solutions across the capital structure.

On November 3, 2025, Manulife Investment Management, the asset management arm of Manulife Financial Corporation, acquired a 75% stake in Comvest Credit Partners, Comvest’s direct lending business, to establish Manulife | Comvest Credit Partners, a private credit asset management platform focused on the North American middle market. Effective with the transaction, Comvest Private Equity became an independent entity. Michael remains a Senior Advisor to Manulife | Comvest Credit Partners.

Prior to founding Comvest, Michael co-founded its predecessor company, Commonwealth Associates, a merchant and investment bank that provided over $1 billion of equity to finance the operations, acquisitions and/or restructuring of more than 100 technology, healthcare, and services-related lower-middle-market businesses.

Outside of Comvest, Michael is an active philanthropist. He is Co-Trustee of The Michael and Annie Falk Foundation, which is dedicated to high-impact community service and philanthropic work in early childhood education, law enforcement and environmental preservation. Michael’s educational causes also include institutions of higher learning; he has supported scholarships at Queens College and the establishment of a research laboratory in environmental exposomics at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment.

Michael received a B.A. in Economics from Queens College and executive education through programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School.
